Clearly Innovative Creates Award-Winning Application for New York’s Queens Library
Clearly Innovative reinvents the way communities visit libraries
Washington, D.C., June 26, 2014 – Clearly Innovative, Washington, D.C.’s most exciting new digital solutions provider, recently completed the second phase of a tablet solution for New York’s Queens Library. The Library has since been recognized with two highly sought after awards for this exclusive multiphase Google tablet solution. On June 5, 2014, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo awarded Queens Library with the first-ever New York State Broadband Champion Award which recognizes high achieving leaders that work to expand broadband access across the state. Additionally, this weekend the American Library Association will award Queens Library with the 2014 Library of the Future Award. This award is presented annually to a library that demonstrates innovative planning and development of patron training programs about information technology in a library setting.
Clearly Innovative’s highly customized tablet solution provides a multi-dimensional experience for library patrons by allowing them to access various library resources in the palm of their hand. The solution is featured on 5,000 Nexus 7 tablets donated by Google to areas throughout New York impacted by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Google donate over 17,000 units to various libraries throughout the state.
“The ingenuity and complete integration that Clearly Innovative is bringing to this project will change the way our community experiences all the library has to offer and bring us into the 21st century,” said Thomas W. Galante, President and CEO of Queen’s Library. “Their creativity and talent exceeded our expectations with this project and we know our visitors will love this new way of accessing information.”
The solution, created exclusively for Queens Library, provides an effective tool for patrons to view events and information, access curated content, and download e-books, e-magazines, music and videos from the library. This project will bring immediate access to the library’s vast collections of books, magazines, and other resources, allowing patrons of all ages to connect into the library in ways never available before. Clearly Innovative also developed another digital solution which brings the Queens Library experience to a mobile platform and provides complete access to the library’s wealth of information and resources.
“We are thrilled to be part of helping communities to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy and enormously grateful that the Library has been recognized with these awards,” said Clearly Innovative Founder & CEO, Aaron Saunders. “The solution was created to help bridge the information divide through digital resources and we have successfully accomplished that goal.”
The Library of the Future Award will be presented at the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas on June 29, 2014.
