LinkedIn, a leading platform for small businesses,
will host grant recipients and share insights and expertise

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 17, 2015 – Clearly Innovative Inc., a local web and mobile development agency running a tech education program called Luma Lab for underserved youth, has been dedicated to nurturing the next generation of coders, programmers, developers and tech gurus. And now as one of 20 recipients of the $100,000 Mission Main Street Grants® from Chase, Luma Lab will provide more students with a bright start. Today Mission Main Street Grants announced that it awarded $100,000 grants to 20 U.S. small businesses. In addition, the 20 grant recipients will receive a trip to LinkedIn’s California headquarters to gain insights that will help them grow their businesses.

Clearly Innovative is the first grant recipient in Washington, D.C. since the inception of the program. More than 30,000 business owners from all 50 states submitted applications for this year’s Mission Main Street Grants program and more than 1.7 million votes were cast for participating small businesses. A diverse team of small business experts selected the grant recipients from the group of eligible businesses that received at least 250 votes.

“The work that Clearly Innovative does with the youth in our community through their Luma Lab program is exactly the type of business Chase wants to celebrate and support. We are excited for the opportunities that this well-deserved grant will provide for Luma Lab and all the children that will benefit from it,” said Janis Bowdler, Managing Director of Global Philanthropy at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Luma Lab has taught more than 250 students through after-school programs, summer camps and year-long curriculums since Fall 2012. Not only are these students learning how to code, but they are also being educated on entrepreneurship and lean startup principles.

“Luma Lab is laser focused on working in underserved communities and we are committed to exposing youth to a world of tech opportunities that they otherwise may never have considered as a career,” said Aaron Saunders, CEO of Clearly Innovative.

In addition to the $100,000 check, Clearly Innovative will build on their knowledge of running a business with a trip to LinkedIn’s headquarters for a Small Business Boot Camp. As the Premier Sponsor of the Mission Main Street Grants program, LinkedIn will be flying two representatives from each of the grant recipient businesses to Mountain View, CA, later this year. Attendees will learn more about topics such as leveraging LinkedIn and other digital content strategies to develop their business.

Information about all 20 Mission Main Street Grants recipients can be found at www.missionmainstreetgrants.com. Chase for Business CEO Jennifer Piepszak has also posted her thoughts about the program and the 2015 grant recipients on LinkedIn.
